On its 14th year in the business, Bright Maritime Corporation (Bright or BMC) has already earned its keep as one of the most stable and prolific manning agencies in the country. Maintaining its passion in the pursuit of excellence all throughout, Bright has turned in fruitful results in deploying highly qualified Filipino seafarers to the vessels of its growing roster of principal each year. It has two Top Performer Awards from Phil. Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and many other awards thereby branding the company as a Multi-awarded Manning Agency.
As a way of thanking the Almighty of all the wonderful blessings he bestowed upon Bright, the company give special attention on its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). It's been ten (10) years since it began various activities involving CSR. CSR has emerged as a significant theme in the global business community and is gradually becoming a mainstream. The growing emphasis on corporate social responsibility is affecting relationship between companies and their various stakeholders such as inventors, customers, vendors, suppliers, employees, communities and goverments.
Global companies like Bright face many challenges. Today, one of the main challenges they face is responding to the needs of stakeholders. The relationship that BMC has with its stakeholders can be "competitive" or "cooperative". BMC like most progressive companies recognize that developing cooperative relationships generally leads to win-win situation for both parties.
And perhaps BMC has answered the needs of the stakeholders particularly the community they serve. They have been continuosly reaching out to areas where potential ship officers can be recruited and part of it is to provide assistance and public service for the development of the community.
During the Bicol catastrophe brought by typhoon , Bright staffs packed up 300 bags of assorted goods composed of rice, canned goods, noodles, candies, shirts and face towels. They personally sent representative to distribute the goods in coordination with GK Couples for Christ. There were lots of outreach program being conducted everytime disasters such as these happened.
Series of Seminars where conducted like the Appreciation Workshop on Enterpreneurs for the families of its seafarers, Financial Management, Health-related workshop like HIV-AIDS preventions, Anti-smoking, TB and many health hazards that usually encountered by the seafarers.
They have HMO and insurance benefits for BMC's officers and staff and they are offering medical insurance for their seafarers and their families.
Every month they have Corporate Holy Mass as a way of showing gratefulness to the Lord and continuous prayer for protection of all seafarers on board BMC's manned vessel and so with their loved ones whom they left behind.
The company recently opened its branch office in Cebu City another way of helping seafarers in Visayas and Mindanao to save money on transportation and accomodation and to spend quality time with their loved ones while they are in the Phils. With the inclusion of CSR in the operations and development of BMC, it is expected that in the years to come – BMC will remain as the gateway of every Filipino seafarer in fullfilling their dreams to embark on an international sea-going vessels.
